Harmony Hall
Visit the oldest home in Kinston, Harmony Hall where you will see beautiful authentic 18th century furnishings as well as an antique doll collection. A tour guide will take you through the house and delight you with the stories of the past. Here history was made during the American Revolution and the Civil War.
Harmony Hall was made the office of state after Governor Richard Caswelll , NC first constitutional governor, moved state records from New Bern to Kinston to be saved from the British. Kinston was the home of Governor Caswell and he conducted many affairs of state from this lovely home

During the Civil War the town at various times was occupied by either the Confederate or Union soldiers. The home was used as a hospital after the First Battle of Kinston and the Battle of Wyse Fork. For most of the war the Peebles Family hosted many dinner parties for the Confederate officers that served in the area and soldiers were often seen going and coming from the residence.

On the ground of Harmony Hall you will also find a one-room schoolhouse that was built about 1900. The school is furnished with desk, books and other items from by gone days. It provides the visitor with a feel of the simplicity of education over a hundred years ago.
